The Artistry of Renton River Days

Our city’s creative spirit was in full swing at Renton River Days as usual. Whimsical ducks were everywhere, as were booths with the homemade crafts of local artisans.

On Friday, I had a shift at the Renton Municipal Arts Association booth. We had a table where children each decorated a mask to take home. There was also a tic-tac-toe bag toss game for prizes which my grandson Cole helped run. And registered visitors were entered into a raffle for theatre tickets and to other performance events.

Allied Arts of Renton held their annual Chalk Art Contest on Saturday the 28th of August. There were plenty of colorful hands full of chalk dust, happy smiles and a flurry of creative drawings on the tennis court! The artistry was quite amazing, and like ice sculpture, sadly doomed to be temporary. Prizes were awarded for the different age groups and for the professional contenders as well. I am including a few photos and will I get the information about the prize winners here as soon as I have it.

About The Creative Side of Renton

I have become captivated by Renton since moving here three years ago. I love the beautiful scenery, the wonderful people, and I have made it my mission to help to further develop and to promote the creativity, and the art and culture of this community.
